Let this be the first step into a lifestyle rooted in movement, reflection, and joy.

Who is a Creator?
Creators are those who choose to create their own journey—on their terms, at their pace.
Anyone who actively shapes their life, making intentional choices and taking aligned action, is a Creator.
Join us at IAC and grow with a community that moves with purpose.
THIS IS NOT A
FITNESS CLUB.
Itani Athletic Club is a modern dojo where creators refine mind, body, and movement through intentional training. Rooted in the philosophy of Japanese martial arts and guided by the Aloha Spirit, we blend discipline, flow, and longevity into a way of life.
Our purpose is to support creators in building a body and mind that function at their greatest potential—for a lifetime.

5-STEP FRAMEWORK
FOR LASTING CHANGE.
1.Uncover and Define: Start your journey by self-reflecting to uncover your true wellness goals
2.Embrace and Adapt: Accept your current capabilities and constraints, setting realistic expectations for the week
3.Engage and Exchange: Connect with fellow creators to share insights and gain new perspectives
4.Integrate and Act: Incorporate your practices into daily life, turning actions into habits
5.Evolve and Repeat: Continuously assess and adapt your approach, fostering ongoing personal growth each week

HOLISTIC APPROACH.
At IAC, we believe that the internal process—Work In—shapes how we live and engage with the world—Live Out. Our holistic approach begins with self-reflection, encouraging each creator to uncover and define what wellness means to them personally. From there, we guide you to embrace your current state—physically, mentally, and emotionally—while setting realistic expectations that honor your capacity. Community plays a key role, as we invite you to engage with others, exchanging insights and perspectives to support mutual growth. As you move forward, the goal is to integrate these practices into everyday life, turning intentional actions into lasting habits. This ongoing cycle of reflection and adaptation allows for continuous evolution, helping you grow in a way that’s both sustainable and deeply personal.

“The coolest thing about this challenge for me was that it wasn’t just 28 days. It is now apart of my everyday life”
BUILT TO STAY WITH YOU.
Even after the program is complete, we have guided videos that are always here to help your body remember the moves, the rhythm, and the flow.
MEET THE FOUNDERS.

Michael Nakagawa
Max Holloway's Wrestling Coach
Retired Professional MMA Fighter
Born in Japan, Raised in Hawaii
University of California, Davis Graduate
Aloha! I’m Michael Nakagawa—born in Tokyo, raised in Hawaii. With years of experience as a former professional MMA fighter in both Japan and the U.S., I now focus on making physical and mental training accessible—especially for beginners or those who feel uneasy about exercise. Drawing from my background as a coach to UFC champions, I emphasize not only physical performance but also mindset and mental resilience in my training. Now, you might think I’ve always been strong in both mind and body—but that’s far from the truth. I was born with heavy asthma and my dad often had to rush me to the hospital. Not understanding the importance of self-care, I pushed my body to the limit through years of fighting. Eventually, the wear and tear caught up with me. And when the body breaks down, the mind often follows. I realized I was laughing less. But as my body began to heal, my heart started to feel lighter too. That’s when I made a lifelong commitment to self-care. Today, my body and movement are able to flow again—and now, I want to share what I’ve learned with my close circle and beyond. My mission is to spread more laughter, more wellness, and more connection through everything I do.
Takeshi Itani
Kyoto University Kosen Judo Coach
Judo 3rd Degree Black Belt
Born in Osaka
University of Kobe Graduate
Hello, I'm Takeshi Itani from Osaka, who loves to laugh. Since my childhood, I have undergone numerous surgeries and became aware of my physical and mental weaknesses. From a young age, I have been training in various martial arts. To live a life filled with laughter from the depths of my heart with my dear family, friends, and IAC creators, I train every day. This experience led me to teach at Kyoto University, which has a deep history of martial arts, and brought me to Hawaii. When I almost lost sight of the light, I developed a program that realigns the mind through physical training and deepens self-understanding. When most people are asked if they know themselves, they answer, "I don't know." I was the same. However, without understanding oneself, true freedom and confidence cannot be cultivated, and one cannot laugh from the bottom of their heart. I look forward to meeting those who wish to accept their strengths and weaknesses through physical training and to live their best days laughing genuinely with themselves and others.
IAC Aproach.
Our Sensei approach fitness as a conversation, not a command. We listen with care, respond with intuition, and guide with calm, grounded energy—helping you connect with strength and self-trust in every session. Our goal is for every creator to leave feeling even better—mind and body—than when they arrived:
uplifted and re-energized for life.
Meet IAC Sensei.

Craig Shaner
IAC Sensei / CF Level-2 Trainer / University of Portland Graduate / Born and Raised in Kāneʻohe, Hawaiʻi
Aloha, I’m Craig Shaner. I grew up in Kāneʻohe, surrounded by the natural rhythms of Hawai‘i. Movement has always been a part of my life—I played many sports growing up and eventually competed in CrossFit through college. But over time, I realized that the strength I was chasing came at a cost: I was pushing my body beyond its limits without knowing it. At 21, I tore the ACLs in both knees and began a long rehab journey. Even after recovering, discomfort lingered in my hips and back. It was around this time that I found IAC. I joined simply wanting to move better and feel stronger again. But through training at IAC, I learned something deeper: to truly transform your body, you must first understand and accept it. That self-acceptance—without judgment—is what opens the door to change. And I came to realize that this principle applies not just to the body, but to the mind as well. What I discovered as a Creator, I now share as a Sensei. I believe in balancing strength and softness. In finding presence, even during high-intensity training. In learning how to care for yourself without giving up on growth. Every session at IAC is an invitation to return to yourself—to tune in, adjust, and move with greater clarity and ease. And over time, these moments of awareness start to shape how you live outside the dojo too. Let’s build a body and mind that support a lighter, freer life. I look forward to meeting you at IAC.

Sebastian Cordova
IAC Sensei
Hola, I’m Sebastián Córdova. I’m Cuban and Puerto Rican, raised in Miami Beach. My journey into the world of martial arts began when I was 11. Back then, my world revolved around games, art, and anime—not traditional sports. But even as a kid, I was drawn to the spirit of self-mastery and the discipline embedded in martial arts. Growing up with ADHD, I often struggled with routine and structure. What gave me grounding was Jiu Jitsu. It wasn’t just something I practiced—it became a part of who I am, something that’s helped me grow through every stage of life. Today, I hold a brown belt in Jiu Jitsu, with over 15 years of experience and nearly a decade of teaching. While Jiu Jitsu has sharpened my body and mind, years of intense training also came with injuries and setbacks. That’s what led me into the world of conditioning and functional movement. It gave me the tools to support an active lifestyle and to work in harmony with a changing body. I first joined IAC more than two years ago, at a time when I was physically at one of my lowest points. I was dealing with constant knee pain, poor posture, and daily discomfort. Through IAC’s holistic approach—blending training, rehabilitation, and education—I slowly regained strength and functionality. That personal transformation led me to a new chapter: stepping into the role of Sensei. As a teacher, I now blend the precision and awareness I’ve cultivated through Jiu Jitsu with a deep empathy for each creator’s journey. My mission is to help others reconnect with their bodies, move with freedom, and overcome what once felt like limits. Because I’ve been there too. If you’re ready to take that first step for yourself— I’m here to walk it with you.

Jenn Flores
IAC Sensei
Hello! I'm Jenn, a homeschooling mom of two in my 40s, and a long-time practitioner of Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Years of intense training took a toll on my mobility, and recovering from a C-section was one of the most physically challenging chapters of my life. That experience made me realize the importance of caring for my body in a way that supports lifelong movement. That journey led me to IAC, where I’ve been learning to balance strength with gentleness, discipline with flow. I’m currently on a personal path to become a “Ninja Master,” guided by the spirit of Work In, Live Out. Together with my family and fellow creators, I continue to grow—with intention, resilience, and joy.
